Rocky Mountain "Hi"!
Greetings from beautiful Colorado! My name is Vicki Anderson and I am the new Publisher of
Unlimited Possibilities Magazine. Unlimited Possibilities (UP) was founded by Marcia
Stevens, a pioneer in the longarm community, in 1995 as a tool to educate and share
information among members of the stand up quilting industry. I am honored to follow her lead
and will continue to produce the largest publication in the industry today. The industry has
evolved to include longarm, midarm, shortarm and home frame systems. Our goal is to
provide a cross section of information relevant to the entire spectrum of machine quilters.
It’s long been established that I am a certified product junkie. UP will include as many product
reviews and techniques as we can. We are adding a new regular feature -- “Tools and
Techniques” – written by Renae Haddadin, inventor of Renae’s Amazing Rays among other
tools.
My professional background includes many years of producing newsletters, brochures, and
marketing materials for civic and personal interest organizations, creating and publishing a bi-
monthly magazine for a Llama Farmers’ association, and several years as Associate Editor of
Sew News Magazine, where I was focused on, what else, products! I also produced freelance
work for other major publications and manufacturers in the sewing, quilting and craft
industries.
My creative background is very diverse. I have been a spinner and weaver in addition to a life-
long sewing fiend. I learned to sew on a treadle when I was quite young. I love to play with
polymer clay (mostly to make buttons for quilts and jackets) and to dye and paint fabric. I also
am a sewing machine collector and currently own several, including a featherweight and two
treadle machines (one from the 1880’s) as well as more current embroidery machines. I do
own a longarm machine, Ralph, who lives in my basement studio. My husband loves to tell
people I am “downstairs fooling around with Ralph!”
My husband, Dick Anderson, and I live in Fort Lupton, CO, just northeast of Denver. Dick is our
Vice President of Support, meaning he lends a hand wherever he is needed, be it laundry,
proofreading, writing checks or nodding in agreement when I create a masterpiece! Our
daughter, Emily Vanek, is our Webmaster and my creative partner. She is a scrapbooking
maniac who also likes to quilt. We have very different styles, but love to spend a Saturday
together pouring over fabrics, photos and embellishments! She also loves to “shop” in Mom’s
studio. More than one fabric piece or crafting tool has somehow landed in her craft room.
Emily and her husband Scott are the parents of two boys, Thomas (7) and Carter (2),
who are our pride and joy.
I look forward to hearing from you about what you would like to see in the magazine, and any
other suggestions you might have. Go to our “contacts” page and drop us a line!
Regards, Vicki
